What do I do?

As an applied & computational mathematician, I design and apply mathematical tools from nonlinear dynamics, probability, multiscale methods, numerical analysis and computational math, geometric mechanics, and control theory to solve practical problems.

An example of applications is the theoretical foundation of machine learning:

  • the design and analysis of optimization, sampling (including optimal transport, generative modeling, etc.), and deep learning algorithms

  • AI for science, such as the learning and forecast of dynamics from data, and ML assisted scientific computing

  • quantitative understanding of deep learning practices

Interested in joining the team?

2 PhD student positions are available for training and collaboration at the intersection of machine learning, computational math, dynamics (and control), and stochastic processes; 1 on sampling, optimal transport, and generative modeling, and 1 on ML for sciences and computing. Feel free to email or indicate an interest in your application if you have expertise in at least one of these areas. Examples of relevant Ph.D. programs include Math, CSE, Machine Learning, and ACO (email if uncertain).
